Palais des Festivals

The original Palais des Festivals was built in 1947 to host the Cannes Film Festival. As the festival became bigger and more successful, a new congress building was constructed at the western end of La Croisette in 1979.

This is the place where the film stars are photographed on the red carpet before attending the premieres inside. The centre hosts exhibitions, conferences and has 18 auditoriums. Music concerts, dance festivals and theatre are all held within the Palais - check their website for the events calender. Outside the centre on Esplanade Pompidou you'll find Canne's hall of fame where film directors, actors and celebrities have left handprints and signatures indented on the pavement.

A great place to catch up on the latest blockbusters and art house films. Showing a mixture of French and International film you will be able to find some performances that are in their original language.

5. Antibea, Theatre d'Antibes

Still a small and personal theatre the renovations increased the capacity to 120 seats, perfect for an intimate performance.

Offering not only performances of music, dance, art and drama this company also offers workshops in drama to young people and matinee showings for younger audiences. They also support the written arts by hosting public readings by contemporary authors.

7. Le Star Cinema

Located on the rue d'Antibes is the Star cinema. If you feel like an evening at the pictures the Star shows the latest releases in five different screens.

Most of the films will either be National French films or dubbed into French but you can occasionally find one that is in the original language with French subtitles. Check the website for detailed programs and synopsis.
