The Official Selection for the 69th Cannes Film Festival was unveiled this morning in Paris when Chief Thierry Frémaux revealed his picks for next month’s event alongside President Pierre Lescure.

One of the big differences in the 2016 Cannes Film Festival is that there has been no Closing Night film announced. Rather, the winner of the Palme d’Or will be shown in the final slot.

As many expected, in the Out of Competition line-up are Steven Spielberg's The BFG and Jodie Foster’s Money Monster, so we may well see both George Clooney and Julia Roberts on the red carpet alongside their director, Foster.

Cafe Society directed by Woody Allen will open the Film Festival on 11th May 2016, marking a record-breaking third time he will raise the curtain on Cannes. This new film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Blake Lively and Kristen Stewart.

Other big Hollywood names to make the cut include Sean Penn in his latest directorial role with The Last Face, which stars Charlize Theron, Javier Bardem, Adèle Exarchopoulos and Jean Reno. The Nice Guys by Shane Black will feature Out of Competition and stars Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. We hope to see them both on the red carpet. British veteran Ken Loach will also show his film I, Daniel Blake, and rumour has it that this will be his last film.

French actress Marion Cotillard is a regular to the Cannes Film Festival and will not disappoint this year as she will be starring in not one but two entries, It’s Only The End Of The World – directed by Xavier Dolan and Mal de Pierres – directed by Nicole Garcia.

Romanian film directors will also feature in the 69th edition of the Film Festival with two films In Competition, past Palme d’Or winner Cristian Mungiu’s Baccalaureat and Cristi Puiu’s SierraNevada, and the debut of Dogs by director Bogdan Mirica in the category 'Un Certain Regard'.
