Cannes' sneak peek at '100 years' - the movie you will never see
The John Malkovich film, due for release in 2115, will display at Cannes Film Festival 2016
The Cannes Film Festival, which is due to begin this week, will be be giving the world of cinema a very special moment with a movie that no one will ever see... At least not in our lifetime.
The unusual movie, starring John Malkovich and directed by Robert Rodriguez, has been made in conjunction with Louis XIII cognac and won’t arrive in theatres for another hundred years, on 18th November 2115.
The film itself will be held in a secure and very special safe that will only open on the chosen date, ensuring that no-one will see the film before that date. The safe will be on display at an invitation-only event during the Cannes Film Festival before hitting other cities around the globe and eventually heading back to Cognac, France and the Louis XIII cellars. An invitation-only Louis XIII Suite members club at Hotel Le Majestic Barriere Cannes in France.
“100 Years starring John Malkovich is clearly an innovative cinematographic project. I hope that our descendants will consider the movie 100 Years for the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival in 2116,” Thierry Frémaux, general delegate of Cannes Film Festival, said in a statement.
The below trailer is one of three that are in circulation at the moment to promote the movie. However, none of them have anything to do with the movie itself.
