Roc d'Azur mountain biking event
Things get a bit sporty during the second week of the month as the Roc d'Azur mountain biking event brings together all things two-wheeled in the spirit of celebrating the sport of mountain biking in Fréjus. With over 20,000 participants, 300 exhibitors and an expected 150,000 visitors over the five days, this is a sporting event to suit everyone. With everything from family entertainment to professional racing, it should not be missed.
Exhibitions and conferences
Cannes is possibly one of the most famous destinations for exhibitions and conferences. The fantastic Palais des Festivals plays host to lots of prestigious events throughout the year including the Cannes Film Festival, MIDEM (International Music Market) and Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. October is the month for MIPCOM, the world's leading entertainment content market conference, and the Duty Free & Travel Retail Global Summit.
International Air Festival
The wind takes centre stage with the International Air Festival in Frejus. This is the third-largest kite festival in France and includes single line kites and stunts kites as well as other aerial treats. The village area will include workshops and some especially for kids where they can learn to build and decorate kites.
SwimRun Series
The SwimRun is different from all other races. The route hops from land to sea with amphibian ease so its participants must master transitions to come out on top. The final race of the ÖTILLÖ SwimRun World Series, participants will get the chance to run and swim around Ile Sainte-Marguerite, Le Suquet and La Croisette among other local landmarks.
Things to do
Throughout the month, there are plenty of markets and second-hand 'brocantes' to be enjoyed. Cannes is well known for its traditional, Provencal-style markets in La Bocca and Forville, which are open throughout the year, so don't forget to grab some hot, tasty socca and plenty of bread, cheese and wine for those autumn picnics.
